Hida Takayama

Start off the day....dragging our big bags.....and with one of my hime sama have yet to recover from her weak foots....it was a bit difficult..luckily the weather was good..finally made it to Kyoto Station, bought our Nozomi tickets to Nagoya and 1/2 hrs later we're in Nagoya...

From Nagoya, using our 18 seishun kippu, we took the local train to Gifu and from there proceed to Takayama....the local train was much older and slower, but at least we got to sit down (so there was no complaining from my hime sama)....so that's a good thing ^^.....along the way, we meet lots of local......its quite interesting really and the sceneries are truly awesome!

The train's driver, the train itself, the interior of the train and the views....!

The journey was very slow...we stopped at each small station...and surprisingly, the locals made payment via a small machine (just like the ones on the city bus) located next to the driver...it was quite unique actually ^^. I think we reached Takayama nearly to 4 pm....it was a really really loooooong journey. Luckily my hime sama did not complaints as all of them were asleep most of the journey........hahahaha.......
Went straight to Jhoppers.......and decided to explore the town.....one of my hime sama decided not to follow and rest her aching foots.....we went not far from Jhoppers (about a minute or two, I think) to get to the Takayama pension houses area....it is a street lined on both side with old pension houses made from woods....here's some of the pictures that we took.

The kawaii souvenir shop....everything in it was cute!!
The taiyaki shop next to it.

Early the next morning, we went straight to Takayama Bus Station to catch a bus to Shirakawago....another nice place.

Takayama Bus Station, located next to JR Takayama Station.

The bus notice and schedule.

Halfway through the bus journey.....we saw snow....there's still some snow along the highway...all my hime sama started smilling...we went from one tunnel to another.....going through mountanoues road....it was amazing...the view was spectacular.....especially when you came out from a tunnel and you are feasted with the snowy Japanese alps.....^^
Finally, we reached Shirakawago....I can't help from feeling excited!

The signboard indicating the viewpoint.

The entrance way toward the houses from the bus parking area....

There's a hanging bridge that we need to cross to get to the other side.....the views were superb^^

On the way to the viewpoint, we saw this cute melting snowman....^^

The steep pathway leading to the viewpoint.....I had to stop a few times along the way to catch my breath....aaaa.....where does my stamina goes to!????? Hahaha...............

Halfway through, it started to snow...and it gets heavier as we reached the top.....all my hime sama were smiling from ear to ear ^^

Some of the pictures we took while up at the viewpoint top....

Just as fast as its snowing....the snow started to stopped and the sky cleared.....and here's Shirakawago after the snow!

On the way down!!!
After the snow....the air seems lighter and fresher...just like after the rain!

The way back to the bus parking area......it was very cold...and I was very hungry at that time. My sis and I decided to went into this waiting room to get warm, while waiting for the others, and I had my sandwiches and coffee ^^

A few more snaps before boarding the bus back to Takayama....a very enjoyable day indeed!

Reached back to Takayama and decided to go for Hida Furukawa's excursion.....and what do you know!? We had the whole town to ourselves..... hahahaha ^^....it is such a cute town....

Stopped by this restaurant for our lunch....it was a good one and the shop owner (husband and wife) are very nice indeed! And here's some pictures of the cute town ^^

My peace sign with sign of Yokoyama's house....it just not at Yodogawa though....hahahahaha.......
Hida Furukawa Station....the most cutest train station I have came across to !!

Takayama Station and a little something my sis draw for JHoppers....^^ I had a great time that day.....Takayama! Matta Iko Ne!!!! Takayama and Shirakawago are 2 of the MUST see places in my book....and for those who got a few hours to spare....Hida Furukawa is worth your time!!
