Japan 2010 - Shodoshima

The 3rd day we started off a bit late than plan and missed the 1st boat to Shodoshima...fortunately we were still able to catch the speedboat, the "Sun Olive Sea"...^^

Takamatsu City Port......

The speedboat that we managed to catch......and finally...the Kusakabe Port at Shodo Shima...
There are 2 options to go round the island...the olive bus or cycling....Has decided to take the bus while the rest of us decided to rent a bicycle..(at JPY1000/4 hours as it is a Sunday...normal rate is JPY800/4 hours)....here the picture of the bus stop at the main street right outside the Kusakabe Port Station

Actually I have a bit of reservation for the cycling expedition....1st ....its been years since a rode a bicycle...second....I was not sure about the island road...will it be convenience??? will there be a cycling path????

Luckily all my reservations are unfounded....its feel good to cycle again ^^ altho a bit shaky at first...and the road and the cycling path are very well maintained.......yokatta ^^

Here's picture of my sis at the road side...and the bicycle/walking path.......

Its really great cycling while listening to my favourite songs XD....an experience that I highly recommended .........well...you might want to change the songs though.....as you might prefer some other songs other than Kinki Kids/ Kanjani8/Arashi or Gackt....hahahaha

Kirei desyo ne!!!
The billboard indicating Olive Hill......yatto kimashita....yippe ^^
Its a bit uphill to get to the Olive Center...but we managed to get up there.....hahaha.....I wonder where did my stamina go.....hahaha :P
Its amazing.. ..the view is totally amazing.. ..from the hill top...you can see the vast blue sea...and luck is on our side once again....the weather was perfect!!

Tiring but it was worth it....^^

This is the olive orchard...did not expect the olive trees to be so "bonzai" like....hahahaha....tried to find the olive but couldn't not even find one....hmmm probably already been taken to make the olive chocolate...I think!

Not far from the olive trees... ..there was a big open space with a windmill....it totally "Greekish"....if there was ever such a word :P

In between the olive trees...there are orange trees...and it is full of ripe oranges....yum yum...but don't be deceived by its appearance...the oranges are totally sour...hahaha...you ask how I know??? Well one of my hime sama took one and ate it on the ferry to Himeji...and I tasted some....

After have a bread and coffee at the center's cafe..we went down hill to get back to Kusakabe Port....and what do you know...my hime sama dropped her bicycle key.....at that time me and Has has already started walking downhill...so the other three searched everywhere for the key...luckily they managed to find it.....

And what do you know!? Once again we were lucky....while waiting for the rest to catch up with me and Has...we stumbled to this shomen shop... as it is still early...they just started bringing the shomen for drying....and I snapped a few pictures and had a chat with the woman who was separating the shomen.....LUCKY....I GUESS...^^

Once again...we cycled back to Kusakabe Port and it was once again a nice ride ^^

We parked our bicycle and since we missed the bus to Fukuda Port (by second)...we decided to have our lunch at the nearby udon shop....another delicious experience....and we met a few nice people while we were there :)

The olive bus ride is very nice indeed...we were presented with nice views...from the bus...we can see the coves....the blue sea...it is spectacular...^^

Reached Fukuda Port just in a nick of time before the ferry departed for Himeji.....GOODBYE SHODOSHIMA AND TAKAMATSU....Sad and thank you for the experience...hope to be able to come again...MATTA AIMASYO NE ^^

Some of the sceneries that we saw during the ferry route....it was evening and the sun is setting...it was very nice views...

The interior of the ferry and the sun set at the firehouse as we were nearing the Himeji Port

Himeji firehouse....and sign of Himeji Port.......

A nice excursion of Shodoshime...highly recommended for those who like nature .....unfortunately we did not have enough time for the Shodo Island's Gorge...it was said to be the most beautiful for Japan....hmmm... maybe on the next trip....^^
