MALACCA TRIP

Monday is public holiday....and we thought, yeah why not we go for a weekend trip to Malacca. I haven't been there more than 10 years already, I think......it's been a while since I went for a local sightseeing trip. Olie and Has just finished their Kangoku-go shiken last week, so they are quite free this week. So off to Malacca we go!!!!

Slightly change in plan as Olie suddenly need to attend a class on Saturday....initially we were thinking of going off early in the morning and stop by Has no ojisan no uchi....demo shikatta nai desu nee. Around 3 pm we meet up at Has's house...the road is jammed packed due to some demostration near the Dataran Merdeka and the Istana....something about teaching Math and Science in English or something.....I'm not into that :P

Once outside KL, we had a smooth start to the PLUS Highway.....until a little bit after Nilai..then the highway start to be jammed as well...so our 1 hr plus trip turn to 4 hrs trip....tsukaretta....Has must be tired as she's the one doing the driving...otsukare :)

We reached Malacca City Center around 6+ and went straight to our hotel as below: It was a very nice hotel indeed. We booked the deluxe room with 2 twin beds plus another 2 pull-out beds...the room is big enough for the 5 of us...
The interior of the room with 3 props...hehehehe....movable ones, mind you....Once we freshened up, off we go for a night view of the city....

Night view of Malacca River....first we had our dinner at the "Quayside Restaurant"...me with my Nasi Pattaya and Teh Tarik...it was quite good...the Nasi Pattaya...highly recommend for those going to Malacca to try the Nasi Pattaya at this restaurant. The tamago is soft and smooth...the rice inside was filled up with lots of prawn and squids...very delicious. Once we had our stomach filled, off we go to board the riverboat cruise...I shall post a short clip of this later on.....tanoshimi kudasai ne....I highly recommend for those thinking of a trip to Malacca to take the boat ride at night...the air cooler than the day and the sight is very breathtaking.....

The boat trip takes about 40 minutes to and fro....once we disembarked, there was a lantern presentation near the jetty....so we decided to go over and takes some pictures. We were greeted by this DRAGON.......

See the claws...if it is a real dragon, it would be very terrifying indeed isn't it!?
Here's Kah Ling with a 'beca' lantern....kawaii desyo

3nin posing in front of all the lanterns....

A snail lantern...my personal favourite. Tottemo Kawaii Desu ne :0
The ship at night....sugoii .......with the lights and all, the ship in its grand splendour.....

We didn't take the beca ride but I managed to snap a photo of one of the becas....hehehe it is very funny..at night the beca was all glittered up with lights...and most of them play a very fast number songs....motto omoshiroi at night!

The top of the ship...with the moon at the background....to end the day.
By this time its already 11 pm and we decided to make a move back to our hotel...

Early the next morning, we started off at the Tourism Center not far from the Dataran Pahlawan. We were told by the staff manning the counter that there is an alternative way to the Stadhuys Building via the park at the back of the tourism center.....with more shady road....so we decided to take that road because although it is still early but the sun was extremely hot.....the road is indeed more shady and lead straight to the historical A'Famosa and St Christ Church. We had to take the steps leading up to the Church, but it was windy so I don't mind the walk. Once we reach up, the view is very breathtaking....you can see the Taming Sari Tower (or popularly knows as Revolving Tower), the Eye on Malaysia Ferriswheel and the Samudera Museum....

Has with the view on top of the hill.....
Olie chan inside the Church building
The threesome from the window's view.....after snapping a few more pictures, we continued down to Stadhuys building...as none of us is a history freak, we didn't go into any of the museum there....:P

Olie chan and Kah Ling chan playing 'hide and seek' behind the pillars...:P

In front of the Stadhuys building, next to the Clock Tower....the weather is very hot but it makes the picture look good....
Olie chan next to the Victoria Fountain.....very nice fountain....
Went we wanted to cross the road to go to Jonker Street, I managed to snap a photo of this cute Mamee double decker bus...I'm told the fare is only RM5 per day for adult and you can hop-in and hop-out at any of the tourist points.....some sort like the KL Hop-In Hop-Out Bus...i guess.

The view of the river during daytime....the authority have indeed done an excellent job in cleaning up the river...thumb up forthem and keep up the good works guys....:)
The signboard leading to Jonker Street
Haslina chan posing near the 'pintu gerbang' of Jonker Street. I bought a 'kasut terompah', the modern type and one blouse here......
I saw this lovely wind chimes in one of the souvenir shop lining the Jonker Street...it was very creative

And the "tori tobimashita"....hahahaha....kawaii desu ne

Another view of the Malacca River
Olie chan near the fort and the canon located near the riverside area
Has chan leaning on the wall of the fort with the cannon at the side...

I just found out the hotel we stayed in used to be a hospital. No wonder there is a ramp leading to the lift and the lift is not like a normal hotel's lift. But because of the price I would still choose to stay there. How about you guys?
